In the 20th week of implementation of the project "Humanitarian Support COVID-19", the ADRA team reached 1,429 people, of which: 1,118 adults are fighting to ensure decent living conditions;  206 are single elderly people and with acute subsistence needs: 92 are children from disadvantaged backgrounds but with exceptional academic results; 8 are immigrants; and 5 are victims of domestic violence.

Therefore, in the week of 19.07-25.07 alone, the ADRA project “Humanitarian Support COVID-19” implemented its specialized services adapted to the specific needs generated or accentuated by the COVID-19 context for 1,429 beneficiaries, as follows: 1,206 people received basic food for a decent living and to be able to get through these days of crisis more easily, of which 75 received a daily hot meal, at home; 200 newborns received baby kits and help for the beginning of the journey, according to their needs; 13 people received help through shelter provided; 10 people benefited from social assistance and psychological crisis counseling in times of crisis.

The humanitarian help offered by ADRA Romania consists of information, awareness, counseling, and distribution of food and hygiene products. The services and products were provided by the qualified personnel of the ADRA team who acted by following the security and safety policies and rules imposed by current laws of the World Health Organization (WHO), Strategic Communication Group, Health Ministry, General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), in partnership with local authorities and accredited institutions. Some specialized services have been outsourced.

“Positivity in these times is sometimes a utopia, but not for ADRA!” said Bogdan Stănică, Project Manager for ADRA Romania. “We can find a reason to be positive in everything we do, with the help further provided through the project ‘Humanitarian support COVID-19’, and this comes from the tiny amount of happiness that our beneficiaries express when they greet us.

We are glad that, through our efforts, we can reach all those who need our help.”

"It is a period in which our attention is increasingly focused on numbers: the number of tests performed, the number of those who tested positive, those who were cured, those who died and all sorts of other percentages that indicate the number of unemployment or the impact of SARS-COV 2 on Romania's GDP in 2020,” said Walter Creciuneac, Assistant Secretary Director and Accountant for ADRA Romania. “And in the accounts of ADRA Romania, the figures change from day to day, showing that everything is in constant motion, and through our projects, we are glad that the change is for the benefit of our beneficiaries. We aim for every day to be a new opportunity to bring a smile, hope, and confidence to anyone who needs the intervention of our team!”

Within the project “Humanitarian Support COVID-19”, specially created for the current situation, ADRA Romania aims to reduce the risks generated by the COVID-19 virus among the population. The objective is achieved by promoting prevention measures and socio-economic adaptability and by ensuring the provision of needed commodities, all to maintain safety.
