Between March 8 - October 24, 2020, from the field of expertise “Assisting victims of natural disasters”, the ADRA project “Humanitarian Support COVID-19” helped 47,689 people from vulnerable families. They received food and hygiene products, medicines or protective equipment, social assistance, psychological counselling, and shelter.
Within the project “Humanitarian support COVID-19”, specially created for the current situation and implemented from March 8, 2020, ADRA Romania aims to reduce the risks generated by the COVID-19 virus among the population. The objective is achieved by promoting socio-economic prevention and adaptability measures and, in particular, by ensuring the provision of needed commodities and hygiene kits to maintain safety. The project focuses on helping to fulfil the hygiene and food needs of survivors in all major regions in Romania: Muntenia, Moldova, Oltenia, Banat, and Northern and Southern Transylvania.
The beneficiaries of the ADRA project “Humanitarian Support COVID-19”, disadvantaged people and those vulnerable to the virus (children, young people, disadvantaged families, and vulnerable elderly) who do not have financial resources to successfully overcome the difficult period, are identified with the help of Territorial Administrative Units and benevolent volunteers. Together with our financiers, individuals, and legal persons from the country and abroad, ADRA Romania manages to respond concretely to the cry for help where it is needed, offering our beneficiaries the bare necessities of survival in the face of the virus. Without the help of our partners and suppliers, it would not have been possible to provide basic food and hygiene, every week, to the beneficiaries of the “Humanitarian Support COVID-19” project.
During the current situation—with the extension of the state of alert and a possible state of emergency in the future—ADRA Romania, through the project "Humanitarian Support COVID-19", every week, puts smiles on the sad and discouraged faces of people affected by the pandemic and also gives them hope for better days.
“Given the situation we are facing in recent months, people's fears and suffering are far from over. ADRA Romania can break through the barriers every week, supporting and offering help to all people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Through the project ‘Humanitarian Support COVID-19’, all beneficiaries have an equal chance of survival in the face of the virus, having all the help they ask for. Although the crisis seems to be deepening, our volunteers and sponsors are fighting against the current and, even if the virus has spread lately, ADRA Romania is not giving up either, but we are moving on. We are with them by any means and we continue our service with joy,” says Delia Fărâmiță, Emergency Situations manager and head of Marketing and Communication for ADRA Romania.
“ADRA Romania has been with the beneficiaries in the fight against COVID-19 since the beginning, when the need for intervention was necessary,” says Bogdan Stănică, Project Manager for ADRA Romania. “The whole team overcame all the obstacles encountered to achieve their goals, although it was not easy at all. Adapting to the legislative, financial, but also protection and hygiene conditions were quite difficult, but the goal was and still is [being] achieved. Positivity in these times is sometimes a utopia, but not for ADRA. We can find a reason to be positive in everything we do, with the further help provided through the project ‘Humanitarian support COVID-19’ and this state comes from the gram of happiness that our beneficiaries show when they greet us. Our team manages to display a solid unity in the diversity of external factors driven by this almost ubiquitous virus. All our beneficiaries find in the ADRA Romania team a reliable ally and undeniable support in the difficult situations they face. However, we are glad that, through the effort, we can reach all those who need our help and we continue to fight by any means available to get as close as possible to the ADRA goal,” concluded Stănică.
