The Friedensau Institute for Evaluation (FIFE) at the Friedensau Adventist University in Germany and the Institute for Humanities in Africa (HUMA) at the University of Cape Town in South Africa will start a joint project on "Ethical Humanitarianisms" in March 2021. Both institutions will focus on the ethical issues underlying humanitarian work, specifically in Africa. The aim is to find out on which ethics humanitarian interventions should be based, in a world of conflicting ethics—a world in which principles are to be regarded as the basics, irrespective of religion and internationally. The research project is being conducted as part of a cooperation between the two institutes.

Dr. Kwaku Arhin-Sam (FIFE) and Dr. Divine Fuh (HUMA) are jointly leading and supervising the project. Parts of the multi-year collaboration include roundtable discussions, workshops, podcasts, video clips/videocasts, policy commentaries, public engagement and academic publications. The research project, which is now starting, will involve academics, policy makers, and various actors and stakeholders from the humanitarian sector.

Friedensau Adventist University is a state-recognized university run by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Eight B.A. and M.A. degree courses can be taken here—some of them part-time—in the fields of Christian Social Work and Theology, as well as a course in 'German as a Foreign Language'. 38 nations are represented among the students.
