From Monday, August 30, to Thursday, September 2, 2021, a summer school session will be held at the Institute for Music Therapy at Friedensau Adventist University (FAU), to which interested persons and students are cordially invited. The topic is “On-Beat: The Basics of Music Therapy”. Binding registration is here.

The 2021 summer school will present the spectrum of musically therapeutic forms of action. The two researchers, Prof. Dr. Petra Jürgens (head of the M.A. in Music Therapy program at FAU) and Dr. Regina Lorek (M.A. Music therapy), who are organizing the summer school, describe the multifaceted program as follows: "For summer school ‘21, interested parties are invited to be surprised by the basics of music therapy. Participants will playfully experience the art, magic and effectiveness of forms of action in music therapy. Together, they will improvise, paint, design, and sing." The event is also a preparatory kick-off for the winter semester 2021/22.

The summer school will take place on the campus in Friedensau, between the Bible garden, library, guest house, chapel, and culture barn. The idyllic forest location of Friedensau promises additional recreation. There is the possibility to exchange ideas and to cultivate contacts, the opportunity for tennis, table tennis, open-air chess, or walks in wonderful nature. The catering is vegetarian, on request also vegan. The detailed program and the respective costs can be found on the website.

Friedensau Adventist University, founded in 1899, is a state-recognized university sponsored by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. In the departments of Christian Social Work and Theology, eight B.A. and M.A. courses can be taken – some of them part-time – as well as a course in German as a Foreign Language.
