On November 7, after 24 hours, the 50th humanitarian convoy of ADRA Romania in Ukraine returned home safely.
The humanitarian donation of dozens of tons of products was a part of the "Hope for Ukraine" project, implemented by ADRA Romania in partnership with the MunteniaConference. The brief was realized as a result of the consultation, request, and acceptance of the humanitarian donation by ADRA Ukraine organizations, based in Kyiv, and the Southern Conference of Ukraine, based in Odessa.
"The administration of the Southern Ukraine Conference expresses its deep gratitude to ADRA Romania for its support and humanitarian aid,” said Dimitri Popravkin, president of the Southern Ukraine Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
“ADRA Romania’s concern for the people of Ukraine warms our hearts and gives us hope. Many people who have received help, with tears in their eyes, send you words of gratitude. May the Lord bless your noble work and give you success in every humanitarian action!” concluded Popravkin.
The donated products (food, hygiene products, clothing and footwear for children and adults, books, bed linen and blankets, etc.), with a value of over 50,000 Euros, transported in 6 vans with the help of 10 ADRA Romania volunteers, arrived in the city of Izmail, Ukraine. The products will be used for Ukrainian refugees staying both in centers in the Odessa region and in other areas of Ukraine. According to local authorities, there are approximately 60,000 Ukrainian refugees in the Izmail region and any help directed to the Odessa region is welcome and needed.
The 50th humanitarian convoy of "Hope for Ukraine", sent by ADRA Romania and the Muntenia Conference in the Odessa region, enjoyed support through donations by the Adventist believers from the Muntenia and Dobrogea region, as well as donations by some private enterprises.
"We are going through a period in which decisions made outside of a system of universally recognized values generate consequences that can only be mitigated by plans and actions consistent with these values,” said Robert Mandache, president of the Seventh-day Adventist Church - Muntenia Conference. “I was happy to discover, again, the empathy and spirit of sacrifice of the Adventist believers in the Muntenia and Dobrogea region. I appreciated the selflessness of the colleagues in the Conference Committee, and I was happy about the inter-institutional collaboration that made this project possible,” concluded Mandache.
