Now in the 33rd week of implementation of the project “Humanitarian Support COVID-19”, we continue to be there for the beneficiaries through material and moral support.
In the 33rd week of implementation of the project "Humanitarian Support COVID-19", the ADRA team reached 634 people of which: 551 are adults fighting to ensure decent living conditions; 45 are single elderly people with acute subsistence need; 34 are children from disadvantaged backgrounds, but who have exceptional academic results; and 4 are victims of domestic violence.
Therefore, in the week of October 18 – 24 alone, the ADRA project “Humanitarian Support COVID-19” engaged the specialized services adapted to the specific needs generated or accentuated by the COVID-19 context for 634 beneficiaries, as follows: 325 people received food and hygiene products, medicines, or protective equipment; 284 people received basic food for a decent living and to be able to get through these days of crisis more easily, of which 75 received a hot meal, at home, every day; 16 people received help through shelter provided; and 9 people benefited from social assistance and psychological counseling.
“There is more and more talk about the red scenario, restrictions, and the reduction of many socio-economic activities,” said Adrian Ballai, Project Manager for ADRA Romania. “But, for ADRA Romania, this scenario means maximum action, with everything that springs from a warm heart, full of love, understanding, compassion for our fellow human beings in crises. It also means maximum dedication, teamwork, time, effort, planning, and rigorous organization. Everything to see a smile, a bright face, a happy soul as a result of fulfilling a need, an existential challenge. From the heart of ADRA springs our gratitude and appreciation for being with us,” concluded Ballai.
“We live in a time when the expression ‘social distance’ causes us to pursue personal protection and family safety for tomorrow,” said Anca Țepuș, psychologist at ADRA Romania. “In this context, regardless of your status, change is felt like an echo in loneliness, discouragement, and uncertainty. If you add people at the threshold of existence to this equation, you are already noticing the exacerbation of the problem. At this conjuncture, the opportunity to develop the altruistic character of Christ is limitless everywhere. I pray for an open ear, for an attentive look and a benevolent heart, to answer the call,” shared Țepuș.
Within the project “Humanitarian support COVID-19”, specially created for the current situation, ADRA Romania aims to reduce the risks generated by the COVID-19 virus among the population. This objective is achieved by promoting prevention measures and socio-economic adaptability and by ensuring the provision of needed commodities to maintain safety.
