On March 15th, 2025, in Berlin, the New Life Church Youth Ministry embarked on an outreach event under the theme "A Community Transformed.” The focus of the outreach was to engage the community by singing songs, having meaningful conversations, praying for those in need, sharing literatures, visiting elderly church members, and providing snacks and drinks to the homeless.
The Organization
The event began with the youths arriving as early as 9:30 a.m. at the church premises located at Schloss Charlottenburg. They gathered snacks and drinks, which were individually contributed by the youths, their families, and the church. All items were packed together in good proportions as care packages, each containing literature materials. Over 100 care packages were prepared for the outreach.
The youths divided themselves into groups of four, with each group having at least five members.
Outreach Locations and Activities
The first group visited four elderly members of New Life SDA Church, spending time with them and praying. Two other groups, each with 6 to 10 members, went to Zoologischer Garten and Charlottenburg, where they distributed care packages, literatures, and sang songs to encourage the public. The fourth group remained at the church premises to distribute care packages to passersby. A designated area was set up for conversations and prayer.
A bilingual banner that read “Need Prayer?” in English and German invited anyone passing by to sit, chat, or receive prayer.
The Pathfinders, who joined the outreach for the first time, expressed joy in participating. Some shared how they gave out food even while hungry themselves, demonstrating their selflessness and love.
Sabbath Worship
The event culminated with the Youths leading the Divine Service that Sabbath. A powerful sermon was delivered by Chiemela Ogu, the New Life Church Youth Director, titled “Not Just Any Location or a Random Decision.”
Focusing on Mark 4:35–5:20, the sermon encouraged the Youths to trust God’s plan even amid life’s storms, and to share their testimonies to encourage others, just like the man from Decapolis who was delivered by Jesus.
The sermon also marked the beginning of the 2025 Youth Week of Prayer, themed “A Community Transformed.” The service ended with a musical rendition by the Youth Choir titled: “As the Deer Pants for the Water,” inspired by Psalm 42:1.
Conclusion
In obedience to God’s command to be the light of the world (Matthew 5:14–16), the NLC Youth Ministries have embraced the call to shine for Jesus in Berlin and beyond.
