On October 12, 2025, during the Annual Meeting of Local Authorities held in Albena, ADRA Bulgaria was awarded one of the highest distinctions available to non-governmental organizations in the country. The event, attended by Bulgaria's Prime Minister and broadcast on national television, featured the presentation of the award by the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria (NAMRB). This recognition is bestowed upon outstanding partners and investors who have made a significant impact on local communities.

ADRA Bulgaria was nominated for this honour by the Municipality of Pazardzhik due to its consistent, compassionate, and practical service. The organization's initiatives range from renovating homes for struggling families to delivering essential medical equipment and providing rapid responses in emergencies.

Key Contributions of ADRA Bulgaria

- Home Renovations: Each summer, ADRA Bulgaria volunteers renovate two to three homes for families with multiple children living in poverty.

- Medical Equipment Delivery: The team transports hospital beds, wheelchairs, and various medical supplies to under-resourced hospitals throughout Bulgaria.

- Educational Projects: ADRA Bulgaria collaborates with UNICEF to implement educational projects aimed at refugee children.

- Crisis Response: In times of crisis, such as floods and storms, ADRA Bulgaria mobilizes quickly to provide relief and support to those affected.

-  Community Collaboration: The organization works closely with local municipalities, demonstrating a model of cooperation, dignity, and compassion in action.

This recognition also serves as a testament to the donors, corporate partners, church organizations, and volunteers whose generosity and commitment to justice, compassion, and love have empowered ADRA to become a trusted partner within local communities.

Marian Dimitrov, director of ADRA Bulgaria, expressed gratitude upon receiving the award, stating, “We are accepting this award with love and responsibility. This honour calls us to serve even more faithfully — for the good of the people of Bulgaria. We often meet people and see their vulnerability and pain. Yet in those encounters, we also see hope.”

Through its ongoing efforts, ADRA Bulgaria continues to inspire hope and resilience in challenging times, solidifying its role as a beacon of support for those in need.
