The Iraqi population in territories occupied by terrorist groups is threatened with executions, torture, hostage-taking and attacks. Millions of people are in mortal danger. Millions of people are forced to leave their homes. To affected children, ADRA offers protection and support, and promotes access to education.

Especially children are vulnerable

In 2015, the life of about eight million people in Iraq depended on humanitarian assistance and children, especially, were, and still are, directly affected by the ongoing conflict: They have lost family members, their homes have been destroyed, they have experienced violence and chaos. There is urgent need for food, shelter, accommodation, a child-friendly environment and medical care.

Help in a protected environment

ADRA provides Child-Friendly Spaces, where children can play, learn - trained by professional teachers - and get professional help to cope with their terrible experiences. In a camp near Erbil, children between 3 and 17 years can get psychological and social assistance. ADRA focuses especially on unaccompanied children and children with disabilities, as well as children of single or widowed women.
