According to the ADRA press office in Berlin, gypsy children are able to use a program in which they could have tutoring in various school subjects to work on their weak points. In addition, numerous social and sporting activities would take place. The aim is to continue to encourage the children to go to school. The number of school drop-outs among Albanian gypsy children is very high.
Michaela Sierra Lois, Ambassador of the Town & Country Foundation, presented the symbolic donation cheque and said: "The summer camp will strengthen the children's self-confidence and various skills. This is an important cornerstone for being able to integrate into society."
In 2018, the Town & Country Foundation will receive the Town & Country Foundation Prize for the sixth time in a row. The foundation and the ambassadors are mainly concerned about supporting and promoting disadvantaged children and young people. The social commitment of all employees and volunteers of ADRA Germany helps to give equal opportunities to the people concerned.
Town & Country Foundation
The 6th Foundation Prize includes donations totalling almost 600,000 euros. 500 institutions that meet the selection criteria will each receive 1,000 euros in funding. From all nominated projects, an independent jury selects the most outstanding project per federal state, which is awarded an additional sum of 5,000 euros. The award will take place in autumn 2018 on the occasion of the Town & Country Foundation Gala.
The Town & Country Foundation was founded in 2009 by Gabriele and Jürgen Dawo and initially set its goal of helping clients and their families who become needy, through no fault of their own. This project was extended by the Foundation Prize, which is awarded to charitable institutions that work for disadvantaged, sick and handicapped children and young people.
