The Adventist Development and Disaster Relief Agency in Germany (ADRA Germany), together with the "German Society for Solar Energy", has launched an internet platform in Ethiopia, with the help of which training in solar technology can be completed.

This training is supported by the Ethiopian Ministries of Energy and Education. The project is taking place in two model regions in the north of the country. There, 2,200 young adults, 30 percent of whom are women, are being trained practically and theoretically in the use of photovoltaic systems. Renewable energies provide clean, sustainable energy, especially in places that have not yet been developed.

Technical and business knowledge is imparted

To enable the students to continue their education digitally, ADRA has launched a digital learning platform together with the "German Solar Energy Society": "ADRA Solar". In seven modules, the prospective technicians learn everything about the installation and maintenance of photovoltaic systems as well as business management knowledge. The platform is state-approved and supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

ADRA Germany

ADRA Deutschland e.V. is part of a worldwide network with 118 independent country offices and about 7,500 full-time employees. ADRA Deutschland e.V. was founded in 1987 by the Seventh-day Adventist Church and carries out projects in development cooperation and humanitarian aid. The German office, with about 50 staff members, is located in Weiterstadt near Darmstadt. Further information is available here.

German Solar Energy Society

The "German Society for Solar Energy e. V." (DGS) is the German section of the "International Solar Energy Society" (ISES). It was founded in Munich in 1975 by scientists from the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics. The Society's mission is to change the energy industry towards a sustainable economy through the widespread introduction of renewable energies. It also sees itself as a mediator between scientists, engineers, architects, the building trade, crafts, industry, authorities, and parliaments. At the same time, it is a consumer protection association recognised as a non-profit organisation.
