On Wednesday, February 19, 2025—in Cudalbi, Galați County—the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) in Romania inaugurated the 351st social house, built as part of the ADRA project "Hope More Than Water" , dedicated to the Lungu family: Liviu and Liliana, and their 2 children, Ioana and Andreea.

The new housing project took place over a period of 4 months and 8 days, starting on October 11, 2024, and ending on February 19, 2025. The value of the interior, exterior, and equipment for the social house—consisting of 6 rooms (2 bedrooms, 1 living room, 1 kitchen, 1 hallway and 1 bathroom) —with a total area of 74 square meters, was over 28,064.00 lei, the amount being covered by the involvement of sponsors and donors from within the country and abroad. The project also brought together a wonderful team of over 17 volunteers, who sacrificed their time so that the Lungu family's dream could be fulfilled.

Present at the event, Robert Georgescu, executive director of ADRA Romania, stated: “Today’s event represents a true life lesson for all of us involved—donors, local authorities and many others—because, most of the time, hope is directed towards the future. But today’s hope already lays the foundation for a new beginning for the Lungu family, transforming their trouble from last year into a true blessing.”

Georgescu continued his statement, explaining that “ADRA invests in people’s potential, collaborating closely with local authorities, to contribute to the well-being of all those who benefit from our support.” He concluded, “Today, with God’s help, we have reached the 351st house built by ADRA Romania for a family in need. Congratulations to all those who contributed to this remarkable achievement!”

"I would like to thank you, on behalf of the citizens of our commune and, especially, on behalf of the Lungu family, for the support you have provided,” said Marian Gheonea, mayor of Cudalbi commune, Galați.

"I have never had a greater joy in my life than [I have] today. It is difficult to describe what I feel now, especially after everything I have been through,” expressed Liviu Lungu, beneficiary of the ADRA project. “I thank everyone, from the bottom of my heart, for everything they have done for us because, through this wonderful project, we have obtained a new home, a place where, finally, we can feel safe and live with hope again,” concluded Lungu.
