The Adventist Development and Relief Agency in Ukraine - ADRA Ukraine - reports that, from May 9 to 15, food packages were distributed, micro-grants were disbursed to organizations or institutions that initiated their own humanitarian relief projects in hard-to-reach areas, and another 1,800 people were evacuated from vulnerable areas.

Food aid

In the week beginning May 9, 1,280 internally displaced families from the Luhansk region (eastern Ukraine) were provided with food packages, with the support of the ADRA network. 26 pallets of food for 2,000 people were sent to Poltava (central Ukraine) for IDPs from across the country. In addition, volunteers distributed 369,000 loaves of bread and provided food to approximately 9,000 people as part of the emergency food project supported by the World Food Programme (WFP) and ADRA Ukraine.

Microgrants to organizations in hard-to-reach regions

Currently, ADRA Ukraine directs micro-grants to organizations or institutions that have initiated their own humanitarian aid projects. These organizations are currently implementing 15 projects co-funded by ADRA to assist the population in the most affected and hard-to-reach regions or to help those who have left these regions. Their activities include medical services, evacuation, collection centers, and shelters for displaced people, along with general assistance, psychological and other types.

ADRA Ukraine volunteers help in the occupied territory of Kherson

As part of ADRA's "Hope for Ukraine" project, an emergency food aid project for the residents of Kherson (southern Ukraine) was launched with the support of the Nadiyatelevision station. Despite the difficult situation in the occupied territory, volunteers have already distributed the first food packages to the residents of Kherson. The residents of Kyiv, Chernihiv and other regions also continue to receive aid.

Evacuations

There are several projects for evacuation of citizens from crisis areas by ADRA Ukraine. Funding from ADRA Czech Republic has enabled the evacuation of about 1,800 people from vulnerable areas. Evacuations under the project "Hope for Ukraine" continue. This project has evacuated 4,000 people so far.

ADRA Ukraine

The aid organization, ADRA Ukraine, has been officially registered since February 21, 1993, and carries out humanitarian projects. ADRA Ukraine helps victims of conflicts and disasters, internally displaced persons and their families, orphans in orphanages and group homes, and hospital patients. The organization also helps people in crisis areas as well as disabled and elderly people, and promotes a healthy lifestyle.

ADRA Ukraine is part of the global ADRA network.
