Bulgaria: "Ambassadors of Hope" – When Communication Becomes Ministry

From September 25 to 27, 2026, the bulgarian national training seminar "Ambassadors of Hope" brought together 51 communicators, technical directors, and media personnel from local churches and national departments of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Hosted in the picturesque village of Voneshta Voda, nestled within the Balkan Mountains, the three-day event focused on modern church communication, strategy, and media ministry.

Bridging Message and Meaning

The core question driving the seminar was how to communicate Christian hope so that it transcends mere broadcasting and genuinely reaches individuals where they are. Rather than focusing solely on technical execution, the curriculum emphasized that communication is a form of ministry.

The program explored key dimensions of contemporary outreach, including shifting the role of communicators from technical operators to purposeful messengers, adapting messaging for diverse generations that receive and process information differently, and highlighting local church activities through effective missional storytelling.

"Good communication is not simply about publishing content; it is about reaching the right people with the right message at the right time and in the right manner."

From Theory to Practical Application

Theoretical sessions were complemented by hands-on workshops designed to translate concepts into practical digital tools. Participants engaged in social media training and video production by learning to structure video scripts and capture audience attention across platforms. Other tracks covered design and artificial intelligence integration using tools like Canva, web development and search optimization for church websites, and event coverage utilizing photography, reporting, and structured writing to tell compelling community stories through foundational journalistic principles.

Cultivating Community and Volunteers

A significant portion of the training addressed volunteer recruitment, retention, and integration under the guidance of the directors of Hope Channel Bulgaria. The sessions emphasized that digital media must ultimately bridge the gap toward real-world relationships and human interaction.

The event concluded with shared reflections and best practices from various local churches, reinforcing a unified vision for digital and community outreach. Grounded in the principles of service and technical excellence, the participants departed equipped with enhanced strategies to support the mission of the church.
