Evangelistic Campaign in Kyustendil Highlights Significant Adventist Presence in Roma Community

A three-day evangelistic campaign held from August 7–9, 2026, in Kyustendil, Bulgaria, drew significant local and online participation. The series was led by Church History Professor Dr. Dojcin Zivadinovic and focused on themes of spiritual rebirth, assurance, and personal freedom.

Due to high attendance exceeding the capacity of the local church building, organizers constructed an outdoor platform and closed the adjacent street to accommodate attendees on outdoor seating and nearby balconies. The proceedings were also broadcast live to Bulgarian Roma communities both locally and abroad.

The event yielded several notable developments:

Baptisms: A total of 27 individuals were baptized during the Sabbath services.

Community Engagement: Non-church members accounted for at least half of the total attendees, with many remaining after services for prayer or enrolling in Bible study programs.

Altar Response: Over 200 participants responded to the final appeal on the concluding evening.

Kyustendil’s Roma district, home to approximately 12,000 residents, features a high concentration of Seventh-day Adventists. With 1,182 baptized members across two local congregations, the area represents one of the highest densities of Adventists in Europe. A third congregation operates in the non-Roma portion of the town. Church leadership indicates that ongoing growth in the region may soon necessitate the establishment of an additional congregation.
