When two Florentine institutions that have been working in the area for years come together, it is good news for the whole city. After a few months of exchanges and meetings, the Meyer University Hospital - one of the most dynamic pediatric realities in Italy and internationally - and the Adventist Institute Villa Aurora have signed a protocol of understanding to promote common and complementary initiatives, combining the experience gained over the years and putting it at the service of new experiments.
This is the joining of first-rate expertise by two beautiful campuses on the hills of Careggi: one a newborn campus, strongly favored by the prestigious pediatric institution Meyer, the other, the campus of the Adventist Institute Villa Aurora, which has been operating in Italy for eighty-three years, offering its educational, cultural, and theological mission to many young people. The two campuses will collaborate on extremely topical issues: correct lifestyles, healthy eating, and also inclusiveness, ecological and environmental sustainability, and the sharing of educational, cultural and spiritual programs.
The two institutions are determined to dialogue and cooperate, engaging in useful and concrete projects for the community. All within an institutional framework with a vocation for youth education and pedagogy.
The agreement
On Friday, July 15, 2022, a memorandum of understanding was signed in the Aula Magna 'Vittorio Fantoni' of the Adventist University campus, leaving ample room for cooperation, experimentation, and joint research.
The general director of Meyer, Dr. Alberto Zanobini, and the administrator of the Adventist Institute, Dr. Gioele Murittu, both accompanied by their respective staff, expressed their mutual satisfaction immediately after the signing.
The smiles on the faces of those present, the handshake, and—given the hour—the vegetarian lunch at the campus cafeteria (with produce from Villa Aurora's bioactive vegetable garden) were the best way to end an intense morning.
In a historical phase in which system optics are being invoked as a garrison to resist the new, serious environmental, social, and value difficulties, this joint work aims to open new glimmers of optimism and dynamic hope, starting from our city of Florence.
