Friedensau Theological University officially began the 2026/27 academic year with an opening ceremony on Monday, October 5, 2026, held at the Otto Lüpke House chapel.
During the ceremony, newly appointed rector Professor Gerald A. Klingbeil (D.Litt.) delivered his inaugural address, welcoming incoming students on behalf of the university administration. Reflecting on the academic journey, Rector Klingbeil likened higher education to a long-haul flight, noting that students should anticipate both favorable conditions and inevitable turbulence before reaching their destination. He highlighted the institution's distinct academic and spiritual foundation:
"Friedensau has a special mission. Since its inception, the university has sought to impart education from a Christian perspective, more precisely from the worldview of the Seventh-day Adventists. In Friedensau, we not only study together, we also pray together."
Professor Klingbeil officially assumed the office of rector from Professor Roland E. Fischer on October 1, 2026, with a formal handover ceremony scheduled in Friedensau for October 25, 2026.
