At the beginning of the winter semester 2024, a new degree program will be introduced at the School of Social Sciences at Friedensau Adventist University. The new study program "International Social Work B.A." will be taught in English. It offers a qualification in the field of social work with a broader perspective. Many of the social problems that become visible somewhere have an international dimension. They are related to constellations or events that happen in another place, country or even continent. The internationally oriented study program "International Social Work" focuses on this in particular.

The course is interdisciplinary. From various disciplines, such as sociology, anthropology, psychology, political science, economics, education, development studies and others, the content relevant to international social work is examined in depth. The bachelor's program comprises four main areas:

Teaching the academic methods of researching, writing and presenting; Teaching a "glocal" perspective that makes local situations more understandable by looking at global processes; Acquiring the necessary professional skills to be able to work professionally with individuals, groups or communities as a social worker; Developing your own personality, for example, in the areas of communication, human rights and ethics.

The study program is science-based and practice-oriented. Part of the course is an internship semester, which students complete in a partner organization abroad.

Graduates are trained for professional positions that require a professional understanding of social problems. They are able to manage processes and projects and, thus, support individuals, groups, and communities in overcoming challenging social situations. The aim is to be able to competently accompany processes of social change, promote social cohesion, and strengthen individual empowerment.

The bilingual campus of Friedensau Adventist University is the perfect place for an internationally oriented course of study. Over 200 students from more than 40 different countries live and study here.
