On Sunday, April 24, 2016, the General Assembly of the Adventist Development and Relief Agency in Romania - ADRA Romania – met at the educational facilities of the Adventist Church in Stupini, to evaluate the organization's activities for the previous year and to approve the balance sheet of the Year.

During the meeting, all decisions of the Board of Directors were approved.

ADRA Romania has fulfilled its objectives for the year 2015. All projects were implemented successfully during the year – a total of 12 projects.

ADRA Romania wants to improve the quality of life for those in need and invests in the potential of people through community development initiatives, focusing on five main areas:

Economic development, basic education, primary health, combating domestic violence, assisting victims of natural disasters and assisting underprivileged social categories.

During the meeting, the Assembly decided to plan a special offering within the Adventist Church, on June 18, for the refugees.

The World Refugee Day (UN) is celebrated each year on June 20. That special day aims to increase public awareness regarding this issue.

The money collected from this offering will be used primarily to support the ADRA offices in countries in which the wave of refugees reaches higher levels, such as in Turkey, Greece, Macedonia, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia. Secondly, at a national level, the funds will be used to support the efforts of state authorities to cover the basic needs of the 6 existing centers for refugees in Romania, namely Bucharest, Giurgiu, Galati, Suceava, Şomcuta (Maramures) and Timisoara.

"Christians are called to assist persons in need, and the followers of Christ must be present where there is suffering and pain,” stated Stefan Tomoiagă, President of ADRA Romania.

The General Assembly of ADRA Romania approved the balance sheet for 2015, finding a high growth rate in donations and offerings (+383.06% in the previous year).

This growth is justified as a result of the access to European funds and donations. Staff costs decreased (from 38% in 2014 to 17% in 2015) along with the general administrative expenses (from 8% in 2014 to 5% in 2015).

"Our priorities are development, restoration and help. During 2015, 87% of ADRA Romania’s funds were directed to economic development sector projects followed by projects aimed at assisting disadvantaged people, basic education and primary health and the fight against domestic violence. We thank all the volunteers, sponsors, donors and supporters who supported us," said Robert Georgescu, Executive Director of ADRA Romania.

For over 25 years, ADRA Romania has been involved in the development of projects that support the entire population. Projects are undertaken by the motto "Change one life and you will change the world!"

ADRA Romania brings joy and hope in the lives of people by promoting a better future, values and human dignity.
