The number of members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Germany increased slightly again, last year, following an increase in 2023.

As noted in the April 2025 issue of the magazine "Adventisten Heute", the number of Seventh-day Adventists in Germany has risen to 34,494. This is an increase of 364, compared to 2023, a growth of 1.07 percent. According to Alexander Kampmann, Vice president and communication director for the South and North German Unions of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, “this positive development is linked to the highest number of baptisms (584) in the last ten years and the increased intake of church members from Ukraine.”

"Even though, last year, we had to statistically close four congregations, we established 19 groups that can grow into new, vibrant congregations in the coming years,” continued Kampmann. “This positive trend of group and church planting affects both the baptism numbers and real growth. However, in the last ten years, there have only been four years with a positive end result compared to the previous year. During this period, the membership has decreased by 317, [shifting] from 34,811 to 34,494. The number of congregations in Germany has declined from 559 to 537 over the past ten years.”

Therefore, the establishment of new congregations is a strategic focus of the Church. "Especially in light of demographic changes, we must properly assess the positive annual result of 2024. Due to the age distribution of our church members, we will continue to lose an exceptionally high number of faithful and committed members each year. To change the general trend in member development, we need to maintain a spiritual and consistent focus on mission and church planting – and above all, God's abundant blessing and guidance," emphasizes Kampmann.
