Syria

Bern, Switzerland [ADRA Switzerland; CD-EUD].The conflict in Syria is still persisting, and vulnerable people are fleeing. Since the beginning of the Civil War, the number of dead is in the tens of thousands.

"I would rather suffer hunger than go back into the war zones of Syria, where the situation is getting even worse," says Amara. She fled with her stepmother and her five children to Jordan. In order to provide for her family, Amara rents a room in a 3-room apartment in the basement of a residential building. There is little space for seven people, the apartment is also dark and not heated, but that's all they can afford.

The rental of these rooms is made possible through the financial support of ADRA Switzerland and its partners. Our goal is to help 250 families to rent an apartment. Thus, these families can be housed properly for 6 months. The small remaining savings will enable families to meet other basic needs and buy needed medicine. To feed the family every day, still remains a big challenge.

Amara is concerned for her children's education because they cannot go to school, but at least they are safe.

You can support these vulnerable families with a donation on our postal account 80-26526-5 marked "Syria". We thank you in advance for your generosity!
