On the penultimate day of the 62nd Session of the General Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, the Inter-European Division (EUD) caucus, a meeting of all the Division's delegates, elected the new heads of the departments that will serve the region during the next five-year period.
Barna Magyarosi, the newly elected president of the EUD, highlighted ‘the good spirit’ experienced throughout the deliberations of the nominations committee, also underlining ‘the very valuable contribution of the lay members’, who asked challenging questions and enriched the process.
The nominations committee was chaired by Pr. Reinhard C. Schwab, president of the Austrian Union.
Among the nominations already voted on and approved are:
- Associate Treasurer: Reto Mayer
- Communication, Religious Freedom and Public Affairs: Paulo Sérgio Macedo
- Education and Spirit of Prophecy: Marius Munteanu
- Ministerial Association, Pastor's Wives and Chaplaincies: Ventsislav Panayatov and Varthui Panayotova
- Sabbath School, Personal Ministry and Adventist Mission: Florian Ristea
- Women's Ministry: Dagmar Dorn
- Youth Ministry and Pathfinders: Jonathan Busqued
Some departments still don't have a defined leadership, pending a later decision: Ministry of Possibilities; Children's Ministry; Family Ministry; Health Ministry; Publications; Trust Services and Planned Giving.
On the proposal of a delegate, the list was voted on bloc and approved unanimously.
It is expected that the missing names will be proposed and voted on at the EUD Council, scheduled for November.
