Florence, Italy [NA; CD EUDNews]. September 26, 2014. CasAurora is ready to welcome the out-of-town relatives of patients from the Main Hospital of Careggi. At the opening ceremony on September 16, some dignitaries were present: Sara Funaro, Councillor Welfare; Christian Balli, president of District 5; Antonio Panti, president of the Florence Association of doctors; Stefano Paris, president of the Italian Seventh-day Adventist Union; and Filippo Alma, Director of the Adventist Bible Institute, manager of the property.
Several local newspapers have reported Councilor Funaro's words: "It is an important structure that offers practical help for families of hospital patients and I'm sure there will be help for the children's families admitted to Meyer. As a municipal government, we will encourage and stand behind anyone who creates projects to help the community. We are pleased to collaborate with everyone, both religious or otherwise, who attempts to help and support those who are in need."
CasAurora was made possible, thanks to the funds from the tax-deductable funds “Otto per mille” to the Adventist Church, and its goal is to help the families who have to stay in Florence because of a relative in the hospital, offering hospitality at lower prices compared to hotels.
"God uses hospitality," said Pastor Luca Faedda, coordinator of social activities at the Adventist Bible Institute, "The purpose of the structure is mainly to transmit peace, closeness and the hope of Jesus to those who are in town because of suffering, those who have a relative admitted to the hospital centre of Florence."
In addition to the guest rooms, CasAurora also includes vegetarian food and a reading room with library.
CasAurora is located at Viuzzo del Pergolino 8, next to the CTO (Hospital) Careggi.
