On December 18, 2025, LAPI Madeira marked its 25th anniversary, celebrating a quarter-century of dedicated service to the community. The commemorative event brought together key leadership from Adventist Social Assistance (ASA) and the Portuguese Union of Seventh-day Adventists (UPASD), alongside prominent regional government representatives.
High-Level Institutional Presence
The silver jubilee was attended by Pastor José Lagoa, President of UPASD/ASA, and Pastor Enrique Cea, Director of the Ecclesiastical Region. The institutional significance of the event was further highlighted by the presence of: Dr. Patrícia Rodrigues: Representative of the Social Security Institute of Madeira; Dr. Rogério Gouveia: Assistant to the Presidency of the Regional Secretariat for Social Inclusion and Citizenship.
These visits emphasized the established culture of cooperation between the institution and regional public entities. Following the formal ceremony, the institution integrated its milestone celebration with traditional Christmas festivities involving both staff and residents.

Historical Trajectory and Impact
The history of LAPI Madeira is defined by institutional consistency and strategic growth. The project officially began on May 29, 2000, with the formal inauguration of its facilities. By September of that same year, a Cooperation Agreement with the Social Security of Madeira was established, granting authorization for: 16 residents in the Residential Structure for the Elderly (ERPI); 25 users in the Day Center.
Operations officially commenced in October 2000, establishing a foundation of care rooted in a Christian vision of human dignity and individual value.
Recognition and Future Outlook
Reflecting on the past 25 years, the organization attributes its sustained growth to the dedication of its staff, the trust of local families, and the ongoing support of public authorities. The anniversary served as a platform to formally recognize the contributions of past and present leaders and employees who have shaped the institution since its inception.
As LAPI Madeira enters its next chapter, the organization has renewed its commitment to its core pillars: service, respect, and high-quality social care. By honoring its 25-year history, the institution reinforces its role as a vital pillar of social support within the Madeira region.
