The 6th Adventist MEDIA DAY took place under the title "Making Technology Creative" on the 12th November in the Voice of Hope European (EUD) Media Centre in Alsbach-Hähnlein / Germany. The mission was to provide a networking platform for Adventists involved in professional or recreational media.

Guest speaker, Terry Benedict, one of the producers of the movie "Hacksaw Ridge", gave both technical know-how as well as insight into his motivation as a Christian to produce movies and collaborate with Hollywood.
Benedict founded the Shae Foundation, which motivates, supports, accompanies and mentors young people and NGOs. He wants to help them to tell their story well and thus optimize their positive influence.

How to make a good movie

When pointing out how to make good movies, Benedict said that one cannot be multitasking, but should focus on one thing. Another aspect he challenged by saying: "Truth does not matter" - it does not hinge on truth. Rather, it is about how the truth is told or passed on. To make a good movie, you cannot act like a journalist who just shows up to get information, but rather, especially the actors, must take time to build relationships. It's about letting "the story come alive". It is also important that everyone involved in a movie project work together, leave their ego outside and be ready to work as a team.

Project Slam

Among the approximately 90 participants from Germany, Austria and Switzerland there were professionals, in-training or studying motion pictures, television, radio, design, photography, journalism, communication and internet. In "Project Slam", 17 of the participants had the opportunity to present their projects, each for a period of ten minutes. Many of these projects revolved around the question on how the good news of Jesus Christ can be shared using today's technology in our modern media age.

Project Slam contributions were quite extensive: assistance and mentoring for video Tutorials and Programming, "prototipe.me"; video devotions on YouTube, "3-minute videos"; "Artventist.com" networks Adventist artists worldwide; "TRIpastor" combines sports/physical activities promoting Hope Channel, the Christian TV station; also presented was a Bible-telephone project in Germany; movie soundtracks, "Manueligler.com"; video clips on the Adventist 28 fundamental beliefs; design, photography, "momento.agency"; film project, "twistedreality.ch" which will start February 2018; Health tips, "healthyandhappy.de"; media service providers and cameramen, "skywardproduction.de"; short videos for the 2017 Adventist week of prayer, "gebetswoche.online". The MEDIA-DAY award was presented to Samuel Klein for excellency for the Light project, by "momento.agency".

Hope Channel

Hope Channel, the German Christian television station, is one of more than 50 international stations of the family-friendly Hope Channel. It is part of the European (EUD) Media Centre “Voice of Hope” of the Seventh-day Adventist Church based in Alsbach-Hähnlein.
