Christian Molke, Managing Director of the Adventist Disaster and Relief Agency, ADRA Germany, spoke at the first United Nations World Summit on Religion, Peace and Security on the support of 1,200 members of the Yezidis religious community who were threatened by genocide in Petra Olympu refugee camp in Greece.
Partnerships in humanitarian aid
Molke encouraged the representatives of world religions and politicians from different nations as well as the European Union, to enter into partnerships in humanitarian aid. It is important to present successfully implemented concepts and to make more of an impact on the legislation, organization executives and donors.
Ensure peace-loving phraseology
"Religious jargon and beliefs are often misused in warlike tension and conflicts to defend interests rooted in the socio-economic sector and to fan the flames of conflicts," said the ADRA managing director. As religious leaders face religious motivated behaviour both in social and economic injustice, they should pay particular attention to a peace-loving language and should not be influenced by other interests.
World Summit on Religion, Peace and Security
The first World Summit on Religion, Peace and Security was held with the cooperation of the International Association for the Defense of Religious Liberty, and Adama Dieng, the UN Special Adviser for the Prevention of Genocide. The Summit was held November 23-25, 2016 in the Geneva Palace of Nations.
