Maranatha Magán Residence: A Dream Realized

Revista Adventista

The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Spain has successfully transformed a residence in Magán (Toledo) into the Maranatha Magán Residence. This transformation merges modern infrastructure and the services of a leading geriatric care center with a holistic approach that emphasizes a strong spiritual component, grounded in Adventist Christian values.

A Strategic Milestone

On March 2, 2025, the Council of the Spanish Adventist Union (UAE) took a significant step within its Institutional Development Plan aimed at serving the community: the acquisition of a nursing home to replicate the successful model of the Maranatha Foundation, which currently manages the residence in Cardedeu. This initiative includes the establishment of a new residence and day center in Magán (located in the Toledo region, near Madrid), designed to provide a nurturing Christian environment for the elderly while advancing the Institutional Development Plan. The UAE's administration collaborated closely with the Maranatha Foundation and the management of the existing Maranatha residence, in Cardedeu, throughout this process.

A Thoughtful Decision

“The national finance committee established evaluation and assessment indicators for the candidate residences under consideration for purchase,” explained Livia Ivascu, assistant treasurer of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Spain. “Key indicators were defined to thoroughly analyze financial, operational, and service quality aspects, including sale price, capacity, condition of the facilities, certifications, and activity licenses,” continued Ivascu. “These indicators were assessed by the committee, the UAE administration, and Maranatha Residence, and [then] presented to the UAE council. Together with the Finance Committee, we meticulously examined the various parameters of each residence to determine which [ones] met the best conditions for the project. To ensure a well-informed decision, a specialized firm was engaged to conduct a Due Diligence study covering various areas (tax, economic, legal, labor, etc.) prior to the final purchase decision,” concluded Ivascu.

“Thus, the Maranatha Magán Residence is finally a beautiful reality. A dream come true,” stated Esther Azon, Editor and Co-editor of Revista Adventista.

Integration of Spiritual Care

Located just 20 kilometers from Toledo, the residence features a multidisciplinary professional team dedicated to providing comprehensive care. The staff strives to personalize care according to the individual needs of each resident. The acquisition by the Seventh-day Adventist Church reflects a strong commitment to the spiritual and communal dimensions of care. Now managed by the Maranatha Foundation, the Maranatha Magán Residence offers spaces for prayer, worship services, and activities that nurture inner peace and hope—fundamental pillars of Adventist Christian faith. This holistic approach aims to support residents not only in their physical well-being but also in their spiritual growth, promoting values such as love, compassion, and dignity.

Voices from the Heart of the Project

“With hope and faith, we expect this new space to become a place of grace, love, and care for a particularly sensitive, vulnerable, and valuable population,” remarked Óscar López, president of the Spanish Adventist Union.

“The entire team will give their best for this project, and we place it in the Lord’s hands,” commented Joel Moyano, director of the Maranatha Foundation.

"Our challenge is to create an environment where each resident feels valued, heard, and loved,” explained Alejandro Giménez, director of the Adventist residence in Magán. “I envision a residence that is a true home, where dedicated professionals and a welcoming community work together to ensure that the elderly can live with dignity, joy, and hope in the second coming of our Lord."
