Bern, October 9, 2013. [CD-EUDNews]. On Monday October 7, three men and one woman went on trial for the violent exorcism carried out on a 19 year old Cameroonian girl which took place in May 2011 in Essonne, France.
These four, including the victim's former boyfriend are accused of tying up the young woman in the position of Christ on the cross. She was bound to a mattress for seven days to purge her body of the devil, they affirm.
They were arrested and charged with kidnapping, torture and barbarism.
This week, the trial began in Essonne against these four from Antilles, claiming to be members of the Seventh-day Adventist church. But they are no longer members, they were excluded from the Seventh-day Adventist Church even before these events took place.
“The Seventh-day Adventist church does not condone or practice any type of action that inflicts bodily harm for the purpose of driving out spirits,” said Jean-Paul Barquon, French Adventist Church PR. There is no Seventh-day Adventist exorcism.
The Seventh-day Adventist Church strongly believes in human rights and the dignity of human beings; therefore, cannot condone these practices.
In France there are 13,000 Seventh-day Adventists attending 119 churches.
