Pastor Ruben de Abreu, president of the Franco-Belgian Adventist Union (UFB), of Seventh-day Adventists, is shocked by the tragic events that occurred this morning, Tuesday March 22, 2016. The two terrorist attacks caused at least 28 deaths and 141 injured at Brussels Airport - Zaventem and at Maelbeek Metro Station.
"Considering the target of the terrorist attacks, we realize the international meaning of an airport and the European significance of a metro station in the European institutions district. It is then the heart of humanity, the heart of Europe that is under attack," declared Jean-Paul Barquon, UFB Communication.
Pastor de Abreu and both presidents of North and South French Conferences of Seventh-day Adventists, express their condolences to the families of the victims and to those injured by these attacks.
Pastor Jeroen Tuinstra, president of the Seventh-day Adventists Conference in Belgium and Luxembourg, empathize the pain of the families and presents the condolences of the members of the Adventist churches in Belgium.
According to Pastor de Abreu "It is important to work for peace and justice while avoiding any form of fanaticism. The Seventh-day Adventist Church empathize with the families in grief. The Gospel compels us to believe in that hope revealed by Jesus Christ, in a time when God will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain."
