Bern, Switzerland, July 22,2019. [CD-EUDNews. C.Cozzi.] The General Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church - Inter-European Region, based in Bern, Switzerland, in the person of its President Mario Brito, greets the two newly-elected Presidents of the European Commission and the European Parliament.

Addressing his message directly to the Honorable Ursula von der Leyen, the new European Commission President, Mario Brito wrote: “It is my honor, as President of the Inter-European Region of the General Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, to congratulate you for your recent appointment and election as President of the European Commission.

The Seventh-day Adventist Church is a worldwide Christian community, present and active in all European Union member countries. We live our faith anchored in the perspective of hope, the principle of dignity, the duty of respect, and the will for empathy. Those are the values that compel us to gladly participate in the communities within which we are integrated and the society we all share.

I wish success to you and the team you will lead in the challenging task you were handed. That, during your mandate, the European Union may be an even stronger agent of promoting peace, standing for the defense of human dignity, respecting the right to freedom of conscience and religion, and caring for the society and the environment.”

President Mario Brito sent a similar message to the Honorable David Maria Sassoli, as the new leader of the House of Representatives of European people, wishing him a successful mandate.
