The first level of Women's Leadership Training took place from 6 to 8 October in Costa de Lavos. Among the many blessings of this event, also worth highlighting are the contributions of Dagmar Dorn (Inter-Europen Division Director of Women's Ministries), Pra Hortelinda Gal and Dr Cármen Maciel.

Participants learned about the history of the emergence of this department at the end of the nineteenth century, when a lady - Sarepta Myrenda Irish Henry - with notable efforts in the temperance movement sought treatment at the Battle Creek Sanatorium (USA) and was converted to the Seventh-day Adventist message. Then, with the full support of the church and Seventh-Day Adventist Church co-founder Ellen G. White, she began an industrious pioneering work to raise up Seventh-day Adventist women and enlist them in God's work.

Other topics of interest were, "How to study the Bible" and develop a meaningful relationship with God; the analysis of various "Women of the Bible"; "Communication Skills"; "Principles of Effective Leadership and Conflict Management"; and techniques for "Public Speaking"; ending with the elaboration of an action plan based on the needs of the local church and community, with the publicising of the services provided.

Thus, according to the purpose of this department, the 40 participants, aged 14 to 86, had the opportunity to develop skills in their personal relationship with Christ. Along with this, they also developed their ability to serve, according to the unique potential designed by God for each woman and her irreplaceable application in the various branches of His vineyard.

Dagmar Dorn, Inter-European Division Women's Ministries Director, commented: "The leadership training is a great way to equip and empower women to discover their talents and use them for the glory of God, in the church as well as in their community".

The next Training, Level 2, is already being planned for June 2024.
