Every year, about 22 million Seventh-day Adventists around the world unite for ten days to pray for revival, reformation, the church’s mission, and interceding for a suffering world. Modeled after the biblical account of Pentecost, when Jesus’ disciples gathered in an upper room for 10 days to wait and pray for the Holy Spirit, Adventists will be connected daily as part of the Ten Days of Prayer program from January 6 to 16.

The theme verse for the 2021 event is: “Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord of hosts” (Zechariah 4:6).

To participate, individuals and churches can sign up at www.tendaysofprayer.org where they will also find all materials to be downloaded, for free, in over 35 languages. The daily readings were written by Pastor Helmut Haubeil, author of bestsellers such as ‘Steps to Personal Revival’ and ‘Abide in Jesus’.

The annual 10 Days of Prayer program is part of the world church’s Revival and Reformation initiative (https://www.revivalandreformation.org) in collaboration with the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists Prayer Ministries.

“It is our privilege to claim God’s promises in our prayers,” declare the organisers. “Prayer is meant to strengthen our faith. That is why we encourage you to claim God’s promises in your prayer time.”

“Jesus calls us not only to pray but also to serve the practical needs of those around us,” continue the organisers, inviting all the participants to follow Jesus’ call to action: ‘For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me’ (Matthew 25:35, 36).

During these ten days, all participants are encouraged to pray consistently for this suffering world, above all, during this COVID menace. “May God use all the participants to be messengers of hope in a world that suffers the consequences of inappropriate choices,” wished the organisers.
