855 people got help in the 48th week of project “HUMANITARIAN SUPPORT COVID-19”

In the 48th week of implementation of the project "Humanitarian Support COVID-19", the ADRA team reached 855 people, of which: 299 are single elderly people with acute livelihood needs; 294 are children from disadvantaged backgrounds, but who have exceptional school results; 184 are adults fighting for decent living conditions; 74 are entrepreneurs; and 4 are victims of domestic violence.

Therefore, in the week of January 31 –February 06, 2021, the ADRA project "Humanitarian Support COVID-19" implemented the specialized services adapted to the specific needs generated or accentuated by the context of COVID-19 for 855 people as follows: 743 people received basic food for a decent living and to be able to get through these days of crisis more easily, of which 76 received a hot meal at home every day; 74 entrepreneurs were monitored in the course of their economic activity; 17 people received food and hygiene products, medicines, or protective equipment; 13 people received help through shelter provided; and 8 people benefited from social assistance and psychological counseling for the crisis.

"For almost 11 months, we have been facing a situation that has upset many of our daily activities and caused situations that are difficult for our fellow human beings [to manage],” said Walter Creciuneac, assistant secretary director and cashier for ADRA Romania. “In these conditions, ADRA Romania is the humanitarian organization that tries to identify urgent needs and to intervene by offering food, medicines, or other products of strict necessity, within the project ‘Humanitarian support COVID-19’. We are grateful to those involved as volunteers and donors so that living conditions for ADRA beneficiaries can be improved through our involvement,” concluded Creciuneac.

Within the project “Humanitarian support COVID-19”, specially created for the current situation, ADRA Romania aims to reduce the risks generated by the COVID-19 virus amongst the population. This objective is achieved by promoting prevention measures and socio-economic adaptability, and by ensuring the provision of commodities needed to maintain safety.
