Friedensau University: Board of Trustees Confirms Prof. Fischer as Rector in Office

Bern, Switzerland.APD

At its spring meeting, the Board of Trustees of Friedensau Adventist University unanimously elected the current rector, Prof. Roland E. Fischer (Ph.D.), for a further five-year term. The internationally staffed Board of Trustees, as the highest decision-making body of the university, thus confirms the election proposal of the university senate. As rector, Prof. Fischer will lead the academic direction of the university until the winter semester 2026/2027.

Mario Brito, chairman of the Board of Trustees, was one of the first to congratulate: "It is with great pleasure that I congratulate Prof. Dr. Roland Fischer on his re-election as rector of Friedensau Adventist University. He is an excellent team player who has earned the trust of students, staff, teachers, colleagues, and state representatives. His ability to relate, his knowledge, and his experience are essential, quality characteristics for the leadership of the university, which has to face the challenges of establishing a new pastoral MA programme for Europe. He may be assured of our support and our prayers for God's blessing."

Prof. Fischer expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him by the Senate and the Board of Trustees. "I look forward to continued constructive cooperation with all committees, all employees of the university."

In the next five years, the rector will have to face a challenging work programme: The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Europe has decided to introduce a new master's programme for all future pastors from seven European countries, from 2023 onward. This programme must be successfully implemented, and the existing study programmes adapted to it. At the same time, the financing of the university will also change. The university is facing a consolidation phase, which needs to be shaped.

Friedensau Adventist University is a state-recognized university run by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Eight B.A. and M.A. degree courses can be taken here - some of them part-time - in the fields of Christian social work and theology, as well as a course called 'German as a Foreign Language'. 38 nations are represented among the students. Prospective students can register free of charge, and without committing themselves, for online information days, where they can get to know the study contents and the campus.
