The world church leadership of the Seventh-day Adventists has published the preliminary edition of its statistical annual report for 2025. At the end of 2024, the worldwide church membership amounted to 23,684,237 individuals, representing a net increase of 899,042 from the previous year.
The report issued by the Office of Archives, Statistics, and Research (ASTR) of the Adventist World Church (General Conference) contains data on baptisms, worship attendance, and total membership at the level of the thirteen sub-continental church administrations of Adventists worldwide. As of December 31, 2023, the worldwide church membership was 22,785,195, which increased to 23,684,237 by the end of 2024, resulting in a net increase of 899,042 members. The figures confirm that the drive for Adventist growth remains firmly rooted in the Global South, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia, especially in Papua New Guinea.
Europe and Euro-Asia
The two sub-continental church administrations in Europe both report small net increases in membership: nearly 2,300 individuals in Western and Southern Europe (EUD) to 183,844, and in Northern and Southeastern Europe (TED) by nearly 2,000 individuals to 92,439. The smallest sub-continental church administration, responsible for Euro-Asia (ESD) and also encompassing Russia, reported a decrease in membership of 1,000 individuals to 57,327 individuals.
North and South America
The North American church administration (NAD) recorded approximately 42,000 net additions according to a report from SPECTRUM, the magazine of the Adventist Forum Associations in the USA, reaching a church membership of 1,287,739 individuals. The South American church administration (SAD) reported significant declines in at least two Brazilian associations and noted large departures in several regions, resulting in a lower net increase of a total of 214,000 members, bringing the total to 2,704,791.
Middle East and North Africa
Long-term mission activities in the Middle East and North Africa region, which have been the main focus of the church initiative "Global Mission in the 10/40 Window" since the early 1990s, continue to show only limited results. Although the region has been classified as a "high priority" for church planting for over 30 years according to SPECTRUM, membership growth is stagnating in large parts of the region, which is predominantly influenced by the Muslim faith.
