Two years after convening, teachers of the Children's Sabbath School met again at a motivational and educational seminar, in Strážovice, in southern Moravia. This year's motto for the seminar was "Bridges to Understanding".
Participants thought about children and their emotional world, and defined paths to mutual understanding. The seminar’s main guest was Julia Wanitschek, who traveled from Nürnberg, Germany. Julia is dedicated to pedagogical practice and, in the form of a podcast, she also concentrates on the theory of this field. Her lectures focused on children's attachment and the meaning of children's emotions.
The meeting was supplemented by several high-quality workshops: Quiet Soul, Big Heart - or How to Support Introverted Children Not Only in Sabbath Kindergarten (Lucka Chládková), Sibling Constellations (Radek Kantor), Emotions in Play (Daniela Fisher, Miriam Stiskalová) and Children in Foster Care in Our Community (Ivana Škrlová). Since it was a weekend, there was, of course, a church service. The guest preacher, David Čančík—secretary of the ČSU—addressed the participants in a sermon whose key text was from the 3rd chapter of the first book of the Bible, on the topic “Bridges between parents and children”.
The whole atmosphere was complemented by a very pleasant environment and good food, as well as by the Slovak musical group Huťanovci and Bielikovci, who accompanied participants throughout the singing of songs. Among the almost 150 participants were twenty children, who were taken care of by a dedicated team, to the joy of the parents. The children also had a program with the same theme as the entire meeting.
“Thanks go to the heads of the Children’s Department – Lýdia Grešová, Lukáš Jureček, and Tomáš Špác – for preparing a successful and beneficial meeting for those who serve children in the churches, within the framework of children’s Saturday schools,” declared Ingrid Škábová, church official in Strážovice.
