The Brussels International Adventist Church inaugurated its new building on November 2, 2024, bringing together nearly 250 people to celebrate this event and the 30th anniversary of the community.
A new chapter for a multicultural church
Located at rue Jacques Hoton 17, in Woluwe-Saint-Lambert, this new place of worship symbolizes the growth and diversity of this church, which began in the 1990s with a small group of mainly Filipino members, under the leadership of Pastor Henri Van Der Veken. Today, under the leadership of Pastor David Carballo, it has become a truly international community, as evidenced by the traditional costumes worn by many members during the inauguration.
An inspiring inauguration ceremony
Yves Pierre, president of the Adventist Church in Belgium and Luxembourg, and Christian Sabot, treasurer of the same Conference, opened the ceremony with the symbolic ribbon cutting. Paul Douglas, treasurer of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, then delivered a meditation on Ephesians 2:4-7, emphasizing the transformation and spiritual elevation offered by Christ. He also recalled that the essence of the church lies in the community of believers, not in the building.
A shared meal and warm reunion
A friendly and multicultural meal, with dishes of varied flavors, followed the ceremony. The event was an opportunity for warm reunions between current members, former pastors, and friends of the church, all of whom came to share their memories and celebrate, together, 30 years of the community.
Testimonies, songs, and celebration
The official program was punctuated by testimonies, songs, and reflections, before concluding with the sharing of a birthday cake. The International Church of Brussels hopes that this new building will allow the community to continue to grow and shine in its neighborhood.
