The fourth edition of the charity cross-country race "I Run for My Mom," organized by the AMiCUS Romania Student Federation in collaboration with ADRA Romania, was a remarkable success. This event occurred simultaneously in 12 cities, aiming to support the fight against domestic violence. Participants had the opportunity to donate funds to assist mothers and children affected by domestic abuse, facilitating their reintegration into society through the ADRA House project.

For ADRA Romania, the charity run resulted in an impressive donation of 122,057.17 lei, with 2,958 runners—739 of whom were children—joining to support victims of domestic violence. Additionally, 350 AMiCUS volunteers contributed their efforts across the participating cities, which included Arad, Brașov, Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Craiova, Iași, Oradea, Pitești, Sibiu, Suceava, Târgu Mureș, and Timișoara.

The AMiCUS Romania Student Federation aimed to assist mothers and children who are victims of domestic violence, providing them with free services through the "Emergency Reception Center for Victims of Domestic Violence – ADRA House." All funds raised during this event were directed to ADRA Romania to support victims, with the goal of fostering social reintegration and offering comprehensive specialized services, including shelter, social vouchers, hygiene and cleaning products, psychological counseling, social support, emergency medical assistance, supplies, transportation reimbursement, and clothing.

Purpose of the Event

The primary objective of the event was to promote a healthy lifestyle through running while simultaneously assisting in the social reintegration of domestic violence victims and raising public awareness about the issue.

"For four years, the end of the year finds us united—as ADRA Romania and the AMiCUS Romania Federation—working towards a noble cause: supporting women and mothers who are survivors of domestic abuse, ensuring their voices are heard,” said Alina Bordas-Mohorea, project manager at ADRA Romania.

"Coordinating the cross-country race at the national level was an intense and challenging endeavor," remarked Camelia Anita Tanasă, project department coordinator of AMiCUS Romania. “The entire team put in tremendous effort and dedication, overcoming various obstacles along the way. What kept us united and motivated was our belief in the cause: supporting mothers and children affected by domestic violence. We approached this with the conviction that every step we took could open eyes, change perspectives, and contribute to building a more aware and engaged society," concluded Tanasă.

Over the past 16 years (2009-2024), the ADRA project "Emergency Reception Center for Victims of Domestic Violence – ADRA House," which operates within the realm of combating domestic violence, has provided assistance to over 3,817 victims, including mothers and children, of whom 1,147 were housed at the ADRA House.

Since 2009, ADRA Romania has been running the "Emergency Reception Center for Victims of Domestic Violence – ADRA House" project. The objective of this project is to facilitate the social reintegration of domestic violence victims through shelter, social counseling, psychological support, emergency medical assistance, food provisions, and legal guidance. The lives of beneficiaries have been transformed as they experience a life free from physical, verbal, economic, psychological, sexual, and religious violence, grounded in spiritual values and fostering healthy habits in nutrition, exercise, education, and recreation.
