Empower 2025: Adventist Youth of Southern France in Action, in Reflection, and in Praise

The weekend of April 19 and 20 pulsed to the rhythm of the Adventist youth of Southern France. More than 300 young people, aged 16 to 35, gathered for “Empower,” a unifying event that fully delivered on its promises.

A Sabbath Morning to Lay the Foundations

From Sabbath morning, the atmosphere was set by the youth of the Lyon Vendôme church, who led the assembly in a time of praise. Pastor Lionel Hinard, from the Toulouse church, then introduced the central theme of the weekend: “Empower.” This English term, literally meaning “to give power,” was illuminated from a biblical perspective: God Himself has already placed within each person the necessary abilities to move forward, to choose, to love, to build, and to heal. Thus, “Empower” proves to be much more than a slogan—it is an invitation to live one’s faith fully and boldly, strengthened by the equipment offered by divine grace.

Afternoon of Reflection: Engaging Round Tables

The afternoon was devoted to two roundtables that sparked both deep reflection and emotion.

Science and Faith: A Necessary Dialogue

The first, entitled “Creation and Evolution,” addressed a sometimes-sensitive topic that is often subject to caricatures. How can we reconcile modern scientific discoveries with a faithful reading of the Bible? Must faith and reason be opposed? The speakers encouraged open and respectful dialogue, avoiding simplistic answers. Personal testimonies about the confrontation between faith and scientific discovery were accompanied by essential reminders: our intrinsic value does not come from our biological origin, but from the fact that we are desired and loved by God. This discussion offered the youth a space to ask profound questions, without fear of doubt.

Suffering: Trial or Catalyst for Growth?

The second roundtable explored an existential question: “Is suffering necessary to grow?” A universal, sometimes painful, theme that gave rise to rich exchanges, mixing personal testimonies, biblical insights, and spontaneous interactions. The idea is not that pain is a sine qua non condition for growth, but rather that one can learn to move forward despite it, to root oneself more deeply in God, and to discover renewed resilience. Participants left with the conviction that God is not absent from our trials, but present in the very heart of our struggles.

Evening of Celebration and Urban Adventure

The evening then gave way to celebration with a vibrant gospel concert, led by the youth of Bordeaux. Powerful voices, lively rhythms, and fervent praise created a moment of pure joy and intense spiritual communion, uniting the entire room in one shared momentum.
To end this rich day—and despite unpredictable weather marked by rain and storms—a life-sized escape game was organized in the streets of Montpellier, adding a touch of adventure.

Friendly Sunday at the Beach

Sunday brought a change of scenery and atmosphere with a day at La Grande Motte beach. Under a radiant sun, the young people shared moments of relaxation, sports, and games, ending the weekend on a note of relaxed fellowship.

Empower: More Than an Event, a Movement

“Empower” turned out to be much more than a simple event; it was a true declaration. A weekend where faith, reflection, friendship, and praise came together harmoniously to nourish and energize a living and committed Adventist youth.

Upcoming Gatherings

Eyes are already turning eagerly toward the future: next year’s appointment is set for Impact Montluçon, and for the next edition of Empower, in 2027!
