The Inter-European Division (EUD) convened its Mid-Year Meeting on May 26 and 27, bringing together members of the Administrative Committee, Union Presidents, and dedicated lay members at the picturesque Campus Adventiste du Salève. For the third consecutive year, this venue welcomed the group with warmth and efficiency. Guided by the uplifting theme, "We have reasons to rejoice in Christ!", the gathering became a pivotal occasion for reflection, gratitude, and spiritual renewal as the quinquennium draws to a close.

The meeting commenced with a profound devotional led by EUD President Mário Brito, focusing on Matthew 24. He emphasized the prophetic significance of this scripture across various historical contexts, marking the current period as one of considerable change. President Brito reminded attendees that conditions are aligning for the imminent return of Jesus, underscoring Christ's declaration, "My Kingdom is not of this world." A key insight from his message was the historical observation that nations and empires thrive when embracing diversity, while uniformity often leads to crisis and decline.

In his devotional, President Brito offered powerful reflections on the essence of sharing faith. He stated, "Sharing faith demands will and effort. But it also requires wisdom, listening to others rather than imposing our beliefs upon them." This sentiment resonated deeply with attendees, fostering a collaborative and empathetic atmosphere for subsequent discussions. He passionately proclaimed that the present moment is "the best time" to fulfil the mission, highlighting the importance of personal evangelism, community outreach, and utilizing various media platforms—books, television, radio, and social media—to spread the joy of salvation. His concluding remarks painted a hopeful vision: "I believe the Church's best days are ahead of us. God is eager to use us, and the world is ripe for the message. All that is needed is for us to apply what we know and share hope with everyone around us, in cooperation with the Holy Spirit."

A significant portion of the meeting was devoted to essential administrative matters, including the presentation and voting on recommendations regarding the EUD's Nominating Committees for the upcoming General Conference Session, introduced by Executive Secretary Barna Magyarosi. The EUD delegation comprises 107 delegates, of which 20 will serve on the General Conference and EUD Nominating Committees. Additionally, the EUD’s exhibition for the General Conference Session was unveiled, detailing its concept, planned displays, and a video report, all designed to showcase the division's vibrant life and mission.

Mission remained central to the agenda, with votes on recommendations for various initiatives, projects, and activities across numerous ministries. Discussions encompassed vital topics such as pastor training, the AMiCUS Congress, health ministries, Bible study programs, outreach to specific groups, and the strategic implementation of digital methods for mission outreach.

The Treasury Report, delivered under the guiding text of Matthew 24:14, "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come," provided an encouraging overview of the Church's financial health. The report highlighted a robust financial position, significant growth in tithes and offerings, and per capita figures reflecting the steadfast faithfulness of the members. Treasurer Zens commended the generosity of members towards the Church's mission, echoing the principle that "Self-sacrifice is the key note of Christ’s teachings" (RH, September 28, 1911). A testament to divine providence, the report also acknowledged God's protection over Church investments amid global turmoil over the past 25 years, citing resilience during events such as the World Trade Center attacks, the 2008 financial crisis, the sovereign debt crisis, Covid-19, the war in Europe, and ongoing trade conflicts.

The meeting concluded with a poignant closing address by President Mário Brito, marking the final Mid-Year Meeting of this quinquennium. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Union representatives who would be leaving the Executive Committee, recognizing their dedicated service. The address culminated in a fervent prayer for the upcoming General Conference Session, seeking the Lord's guidance and reaffirming the assurance that God is actively leading the Church. President Brito conveyed profound trust that God selects individuals and teams according to the specific needs of the Church and the prevailing context of our times.

His final words were a powerful call to embrace peace and joy: "May God continue to keep peace and joy in our hearts." Drawing parallels to Jesus' post-resurrection appearance to His disciples, President Brito reminded attendees that peace and joy are gifts to be shared, emphasizing the need to "wait in Jerusalem, pray together, and receive the Holy Spirit" to be truly ready for mission. He concluded with a resounding message of hope and triumph: "We have a King who is alive, on His throne, always interceding for us. We have reasons to rejoice and to live in peace and joy." The Inter-European Division's Mid-Year Meeting concluded on a spiritual note, leaving participants inspired and re-energized for the mission ahead.
