French-speaking Adventist Radios in Reflection: Uniting Voices to Serve Better

Jéthro Camille

About fifteen leaders and stakeholders from Adventist radios gathered this Sunday, May 18, at the headquarters of the coordination of radios from the Franco-Belgian Union (UFB). This meeting took on a special character, welcoming representatives from Switzerland, Guyana, and even Polynesia, demonstrating a willingness to collaborate beyond the borders of the Union.

Sharing Experiences and Common Challenges

At the heart of the discussions, each participant had the opportunity to share news from their local radio or institution. In a context where financial and human resources are often inversely proportional to the challenges faced, these moments of sharing are invaluable. Confiding in one another, discovering that one is not alone in facing difficulties, and, above all, exploring solutions developed by others, provides a source of encouragement and mutual inspiration.

Towards Increased Synergy and Quality

Several strategic questions animated the debates. How can we strengthen the complementarity between the different stations? How can we harmonize formats and improve the overall quality of radio productions? The question of program exchange was also raised, with reflections on how to design future shows so that they are inherently shareable among entities. The goal is to pool strengths for a greater impact.

Radio at the Heart of Evangelistic Mission

Another important discussion axis concerned the specific role of radio in the evangelistic process. Should it seek to convince, to convert directly, or rather to raise awareness and awaken spiritual curiosity? Participants also explored ways to strengthen the bridges between radio media and local churches to ensure follow-up and support for listeners interested in a faith journey.

Adapting for a Relevant Radio Ministry

At the end of these rich exchanges, a shared observation emerged: society is in constant evolution, and for radio to remain relevant, it must adapt to its audience and evolve with it. This requires not only adaptability but also profound humility and a keen ability to listen to the needs of the audience. The day concluded on a note of optimism and a renewed commitment to radio ministry, a valuable tool for sharing the Gospel.
