After the devastating floods in September, here are some figures that ADRA Romania shared at the beginning of this new year: 445,363 EUR, 7,609 people assisted, 1,219 volunteers, 211 vehicles, 100 days, 73 houses supported in reconstruction – a sign of ADRA’s solidarity with flood victims.
Between September 15 and December 23, 2024, ADRA Romania carried out extensive activities to support communities affected by Cyclone Boris. As part of the “Hope Above the Waters” project, 7,609 people – Romanians in need due to flood damage – received assistance. This support was made possible by the involvement of 1,219 active volunteers and collaboration with 176 trusted partners.
The donation of 206 tons of essential goods was achieved through the partnership between ADRA Romania and the Seventh-day Adventist Church, with significant contributions from the Moldova and Bucovina, Muntenia and Dobrogea, Oltenia, South Transylvania, North Transylvania and Maramureș, Banat, Crișana Conferences, and many others. The distributed items included food, hygiene products, water, vouchers, clothing, footwear, quilts, blankets, generators, pumps, dehumidifiers, water jets, beehives, refrigerators, washing machines, stoves, furniture, construction materials, and much more, with a total value of 445,363 EUR.
Making Houses Habitable Again
Additionally, 32,440 liters of water were extracted from walls by ADRA’s dehumidifiers, and 73 houses are being supported in the reconstruction process, providing families affected by the floods with a fresh start and a safe shelter adapted to their needs.
