July 7 was a memorable day at the 62nd Session of the General Conference of the Seventh-day Adventists with the presentation of the Inter-European Division Report.
It was twenty minutes past eight on Monday evening when the Associate Secretary for the EUD field, Claude Richli, called to the stage the outgoing EUD President, Mário Brito, and the elected EUD President, Barna Magiarosy, in a ceremony marked by institutional continuity and the warmth of Christian fellowship.
Mário Brito began by explaining the concept behind the EUD Report, which was based on celebrating the history of the Adventist work in Europe, from John Andrews’ arrival in Switzerland in 1874, and on gratitude for the mission projects and initiatives carried out in the field during this quinquennium. Brito recalled the challenging beginnings of Andrews and other pioneers and emphasized the responsibility to follow in their footsteps to fulfill the mission.

After the video presentation, Mário Brito handed over the presidency to Barna Magiarosy, expressing his joy in a generational change that is well-prepared and active to face the new frontiers of the mission, particularly through digital means.
Barna Magiarosy, the elected President, expressed appreciation for the ministry of his predecessor and gratitude for his leadership in the administration they shared.
The attendees celebrated this passing of the baton with applause, with a delegation of more than two hundred representatives from the EUD and their families giving both leaders a standing ovation.
