Safeliz: New Leadership Within a Transforming Institutional Context

Safeliz

Editorial Safeliz has entered a new chapter following the appointment of Pastor Tercio Marques as its new director. This leadership transition coincides with a historic restructuring of the institution’s governance, designed to strengthen its international reach and consolidate its mission while maintaining its established services within Spain.

A Leadership Transition Focused on Continuity

The appointment of Pastor Tercio Marques follows the departure of Mario Martinelli to the General Conference. Marques assumes the directorship with a strategic background, having previously managed publishing responsibilities in the Middle East. This international experience is expected to provide a global perspective to Safeliz’s operations.

Supporting this transition, Sergio Mato will continue in his role as the editorial’s administrator. His extensive tenure and institutional knowledge are regarded as vital components for ensuring organizational stability during this period of change.

Strategic Restructuring and Institutional Evolution

The current leadership handover takes place amid a broader transformation of Safeliz’s legal and organizational framework. This evolution traces back to 2011, when an agreement between the Spanish Union of Churches Conference (UAE) and the Inter-European Division (EUD) transferred the governance of Safeliz to the EUD, while ownership remained with the UAE.

In 2025, to modernize this partnership and enhance operational efficiency, both entities reached an agreement for the EUD to formally acquire the publishing house from the UAE.

International Expansion and Local Impact

The transfer of ownership serves a dual strategic purpose:

Global Strengthening: It reinforces Safeliz’s international scope, facilitating its ongoing work across diverse global territories.

Domestic Support: The transaction provides financial resources to the Spanish Union, which will be reinvested into the development of local ministry and church activities.

Stakeholders have emphasized that this institutional shift will not alter the services Safeliz provides in Spain. The continuity of editorial activities and the commitment to its existing readership and local churches remain unchanged.

Official Ratification and Future Outlook

The change in ownership was officially ratified in November 2025 during the year-end meetings of both the Spanish Union and the Inter-European Division. This formal endorsement marks the beginning of a phase characterized by a more robust structure, aimed at expanding the institution's reach.

Through these changes, Editorial Safeliz reaffirms its core mission of global evangelism, supported by an organizational model optimized for 21st-century international demands.
