ADRA Serbia's "School on Wheels" project brings education directly to almost 200 Roma children for whom attending school is difficult, due to distance and inadequate living conditions.
There are approximately 250,000 Roma, in Serbia, who have been affected by poverty for generations. According to ADRA Switzerland, a proven path out of poverty is to support these children in successfully completing formal education. This aims to prevent marginalization and enable them to build a better future.
The mobile classroom, a specially equipped trailer, brings the school to these children and offers on-site instruction. The bus pulling the trailer is also used as transportation to ADRA Serbia's community center, where the children can attend creative workshops.
These activities keep the children occupied and off the streets. At the same time, they are provided with opportunities to learn and play.
