In an educational context where quality standards are becoming increasingly demanding, and external evaluations require a high level of academic and administrative responsibility, Adventus University in Cernica has received a new confirmation of the stability and seriousness of its theological education programs. The Council of the Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ARACIS), through Decision no. 153/H/07.05.2026, decided to maintain the accreditation of the undergraduate study program, Adventist Pastoral Theology, within the Faculty of Theology and Social Sciences. The program will continue to operate as a full-time study program, with an annual enrollment capacity of 30 students and a curriculum totaling 240 academic credits.
Maintaining accreditation for the Adventist Pastoral Theology program also represents a renewed confirmation of Adventus University’s constant commitment to quality, institutional development, and faithfulness to its educational mission. The outcome of this evaluation reflects sustained efforts to strengthen a balanced academic environment in which Adventist theological training is complemented by character development, social responsibility, and practical preparation for ministry. At the same time, the accreditation confirms the relevance of the national and international institutional partnerships developed by the university, its involvement in educational projects, and its ongoing concern for adapting to the current needs of society and the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
In an educational climate often marked by the pressure of quantitative indicators and administrative performance metrics, maintaining a coherent academic direction while preserving an institutional identity grounded in biblical theological values and vision represents an expression of responsibility, consistency, and fidelity to the educational and spiritual mission of the institution.
“The renewal of ARACIS’ accreditation for the Adventist Pastoral Theology study program, for another five years, confirms the presence of a high standard of educational quality within the specialization. Beyond the academic and technical process behind such an evaluation, success ultimately depends on the people involved. Subjectively speaking, I believe we are going through a very favorable period, considering both our colleagues and our students. We thank our gracious God for His help and for the opportunities He continues to [create] before us for the future. We also thank the Romanian Union Conference for the support and trust they continue to offer us,” shared Prof. Dr. Laurențiu Moț, Rector.
One of the University’s essential priorities remains the preparation of future generations of pastors who are dedicated to ministry and capable of carrying forward the spiritual, theological, and educational legacy received from previous generations. The Adventist Pastoral Theology program seeks to prepare balanced leaders that are grounded in the values of Scripture and capable of responding to contemporary challenges with discernment, competence, and a spirit of service.
At the same time, the university aims to continue serving the Adventist Church as a space for intellectual and spiritual training, a place where responsibility, integrity, and dedication to mission are cultivated. In a society marked by rapid change, moral confusion, and increasingly noisy superficiality, the existence of institutions that invest in character formation and vocation becomes more important than it may initially appear. The sustainability of a society does not rely exclusively on economic development, technological progress, or institutional performance, but also on the capacity to produce individuals grounded in moral values, responsibility, and faith. From this perspective, Adventist theological education continues to play an essential role in cultivating truth, a spirit of service, and commitment to the good of the community, therefore, contributing to the preparation of leaders capable of serving both church and society with integrity, discernment, and balance.
Moreover, within the tradition of the Christian faith, and especially within Adventist education, university training is not aimed solely at preparing individuals for present responsibilities. It is also designed to prepare them for the perspective of eternal life through character development, thus deepening their relationship with God and enabling them to embrace a life lived according to the values of the Gospel. In this sense, the mission of Adventus University and the Adventist Pastoral Theology program remains that of “educating the mind, transmitting values, and affirming faith”, integrating both academic and spiritual development into an educational endeavor oriented toward service in the present and hope for the age to come.
