Let’s Sing! 2800 Voices In Worship

“God’s Promise: Always with you” is also the theme song’s title of Camporee 2019. As the second day ends, we get to know the person and story behind the official theme.

Let’s Sing! 2800 Voices In Worship

Every morning and every evening there are some “must” moments you can expect in Camporee Marquee: the devotional about Joshua’s experience with God, the hymns of worship and joy and the acknowledgement of the national delegations. One of the most expected moments is the theme song, “God’s Promise”. Today, we learn a bit more about it with its author, Luis Moreira, a Youth Leader, Professor of Data Analysis and Statistics, who is also a senior voluntary aid to the Youth Department in Portugal.

How was this theme chosen?
The theme was chosen by contest and the winner was decided by a special committee of musicians and youth leaders.

What are the lyrics about?
As the title shows, it is a song about how faithful and kind God is and how sure we can be about the fulfilment of His promises. I have been told that is a very pleasant melody, that gives frame to a very simple, but extremely insightful lyrics. Of course, there are some lines in different languages, as the conquest demanded. It is amazing to hear the motivation and happiness when each delegation sings the part in its own language! Unforgettable!

How did you create it? What main ideas and feelings did you try to express?
Well, my wife always plays a special role on that decision… (laughs). She challenged me four years ago to compose the “Surprised by Grace” theme, and she did it again this year… so, she is the main responsible… (laughs). Seriously, it is an enormous honour for me to use this gift that God gave me on He’s behalf, above all things, and on behalf of our youth. So, the main purpose of this song is to praise God and lift our souls to His tremendous holiness. At the same time, I wanted it to be very fresh, jovial, motivational, rhythmed and inspiring (quite ambitious… ). So, I tried to express and bring up a lot of different concepts and feelings, all pointing out to God’s greatness’s, but also to His closeness. I think that whatever we can ever say or sing about Him, it will never be enough to praise Him. This was just my humble and honest attempt to express how grateful we should be for His love. I hope you feel it this way.

How do you feel when you hear almost 3000 young people singing a song that you wrote and composed?
It’s a thrill! It’s a sensation of joy and accomplishment. And specially a great honour to contribute for the environment of prayer and worship in this meeting.

Lyrics
Lord, I heard the news today,
Seems the world is off the trail,
And I don't know who to trust.
Lord, I lift my soul on high,
Cause it’s You I want to find,
When there's no one else around.

When I hear Your voice,
Calling out my name,
Help me Lord, to harden not my heart.

Make me strong and bold,
Give me Joshua's faith,
To trust in You, no matter what may take.

God’s Promise is true,
He’s there for me and you.
Make me a hero of faith,
Trusting on, trusting on...

God’s Promise... toujours avec moi...
Boží slib... sempre con me...
Gottes Versprechen... Întotdeauna cu mine.
Gods belofte... sempre comigo...
La promesa... Vinagi s men...
God’s Promise is always with me.

When I hear Your voice,
Calling out my name,
Help me Lord, to harden not my heart.

Make me strong and bold,
Give me Joshua's faith,
To trust in You, no matter what may take.

God’s Promise is true,
He’s there for me and you.
Make me a hero of faith,
Trusting on, trusting on...

God’s Promise... toujours avec moi...
Boží slib... sempre con me...
Gottes Versprechen... Întotdeauna cu mine.
Gods belofte... sempre comigo...
La promesa... Vinagi s men...
God’s Promise is always with me.
God’s Promise is always with me.
