Bern, Switzerland [CD EUDNews]. October 2, 2014. The death toll due to the Ebola outbreak in West Africa has climbed to more than 3,338 cases in six months, with 7,178 cases confirmed as of September 28, 2014, according to the World Health Organization.

The President of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Ted Wilson, invites all members of the Adventist World Family to give special attention to this phenomenon that is affecting our church members as well as all the populations in West Africa.

“I am urgently imploring all Seventh-day Adventists around this globe to make Sabbath, October 11, 2014, a special Day of Prayer for our brothers and sisters in West Africa and for the entire population in that region, as they face this virtually unprecedented tragedy. Let us pray that God will put a halt to the spread of this virulent virus” said Ted Wilson.

Special prayer requests are:

  • Protection for the healthcare workers caring for the sick
  • Church members and leaders as they minister to those affected by the Ebola virus
  • Those who have lost their loved ones due to the disease
  • A medical breakthrough in treating the Ebola virus

“We ask that you may join us in spreading this initiative in your region through Social Media and other channels available to you, encouraging members and local congregations to prepare October 11th as a Special Day of Prayer” said Williams Costa Junior, Communication director at the Seventh-day Adventist Headquarter.

“Even though we cannot do nothing directly for this people” affirms Corrado Cozzi, Inter-European Region Communication director, “the fact that we are invited to pray all together is a signal that we are aware of the importance of this tragedy and that we want to express our concern and sympathy to all those involved. God is able, all the time.”
