Since October 15, 2020, ADRA beneficiaries have been receiving help thanks to a simple text message (SMS). When donors send a message to the short number ‘8845’, with the text “ADRA”, they donate a total amount of 2 euros (10 lei) to sustain the project "Support for everyone".

Between October 2020 and October 2021, through the SMS donation service, the beneficiaries of the project "Support for everyone" were supported in improving their living conditions. They were provided with personalized support according to the specific needs of each assisted person for whom the humanitarian intervention is carried out: both the settlement of medical services and the fulfilment of basic needs, such as food, hygiene products, clothing, and footwear.

The cases in which ADRA Romania intervened during this period, through SMS financial donations are: ADRA House - Rebecca: 927 SMS; Bango family: 912 SMS; Onica Georgiana: 875 SMS; ADRA House: 782 SMS; Support a child in Africa: 777 SMS; ADRA workshop "Viile Noi": 720 SMS; Munteanu family: 712 SMS; Florin Giurgiuveanu: 680 SMS; “I want to go to school”: 666 SMS; Hope for Immigrants: 664 SMS; Bridge over the waters: 572 SMS; “I want to go to school”: 193 SMS; Milicu family: 106 SMS.

“This autumn brings an anniversary moment for ADRA Romania by completing the first year of operation of the SMS donation service…" said Bogdan Stanica, project manager for ADRA Romania. “A first year that bears the imprint [of] donors’ altruism and involvement.”

“In each case,” continued Stanica, “donors have chosen not to remain indifferent, and their gift has managed to change the hard-fought lives of the beneficiaries. Thus, we can present over 8,500 text messages received at the short number ‘8845’ totaling more than 75,000 lei, gifts that reached our beneficiaries.”

“The ADRA team intervenes whenever needed, where people cry for help,” explained Delia Fărâmiță, assistant manager of emergency situations and director of marketing and communication at ADRA Romania. “Guided by Justice, Compassion, and Love, through humanitarian acts, we make known the just, merciful, and loving character of God. All people have the fundamental right to basic care, goods, and services. We thank everyone that you have been with us and our beneficiaries this year and that you will continue to be with ADRA,” concluded Fărâmiță.
